Need some fiddle, violin, mandolin or string arrangements for your recording project? Let me know what you’re up to and let’s see if I can add that certain something you’re looking for.
If you’re recording at home, just send me your basic tracks, either as an audio file(s) or a Pro Tools session, I’ll track the fiddle, mandolin or strings at my studio (email me for a high-resolution clips of work done here, or to see the gear list for my studio).
I’m flexible, my rates are affordable and I care about my work. If you need fiddle, mandolin, violin or a string section for your project, just get in touch using the contact form below and let’s talk.
Here are just a few recent examples of what I’ve done on other sessions:
Fiddle and Mandolin
Traditional bluegrass and country are my specialties, although I do play many other styles, from old-time to Irish to swing to klezmer. I even played electric surf fiddle on a session. I can keep it in the box or take it way, way outside, depending on what you need.
String Arrangements
In addition to playing fiddle (properly speaking), I’m also a classically trained violinist. Over the years I’ve often been asked to write and perform string parts for recording projects. Whether you’re looking for an arranger to write out parts for a string quartet or looking for a violinist (and other string players) to record an arrangement, I can help.
And don’t assume that string arrangements are only for well-financed major label projects. Tracking string parts at my home studio, I can conjure up a pretty majestic-sounding string section in just a few hours and at a very reasonable price. And if you’re looking to make your own personal Pet Sounds, I have easy access to a range of conventional and not-so-conventional instruments (and instrumentalists), from celesta to banjo to vibes to accordion to theremin.
Guitar
Let’s face it, fiddlers, mandolinists and string players are in much shorter supply than guitarists, and that’s probably why I’m not often seen around town with a guitar in hand, but I do play and have been told by some that my guitar work has a certain charm. If you need a fiddler/mandolinist who also plays guitar, let’s talk.
