Join me and banjo player extraordinaire Anthony Ihrig at the 318 Cafe in Excelsior for a Thanksgiving Eve banjo-fiddle (and mandolin) throwdown.
In addition to being my longtime bandmate in The High 48s and one of the best melodic-style banjo players working today, Anthony’s my musical enabler when it comes to exploring music outside the traditional bluegrass box. When I suggest to the band that it might be interesting to, say, cover a Clash song, he would be the first one to agree.
There will be plenty of bluegrass and old-time, of course, but expect a pretty free-ranging set list and lots of musical back and forth at the 318.
