May 10: Americana Triple Bill with The High 48s, The Roe Family Singers and Becky Schlegel

On May 10, The High 48sThe Roe Family Singers and Becky Schlegel will celebrate Mother’s Day weekend with a triple bill at the O’Shaughnessy Education Center Auditorium on the campus of the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul.

We’re looking forward to this one! It’s not often that we get a chance to play on a bill with Becky and the Roes, two of our favorite bands/artists from up this way.

This show will be sort of a homecoming for Becky, who has been working out of Nashville for the last few years.  She’ll be performing some songs from her new CD Opry Lullaby, which was produced by Grammy-winning producer Randy Kohrs (Jim Lauderdale) at his Nashville studio and sounds amazing.

I’ll be sitting in with Becky, and maybe if we ask her really nicely, she’ll play a few songs with the 48s.

And let’s not forget The Roe Family Singers, jug band par excellence and winners of a heap of awards, including the much sought-after McKnight Foundation Fellowship and title of World’s Best Jug Bend in the Battle of the Jug Bands.

Then, of course, there’s little us. We’ll be playing songs from our new CD You Asked for It, a collection of our most-requested cover songs (including, yes, Orange Blossom Special and I Will Whisper Your Name). It’s a limited-run CD and it’s selling briskly, so stop on down to the show and get your copy while you can!
